Changing your environment is a big part of getting sober and embarking on a living sober life style. People who chose sobriety post rehab tend to never look back. They go to meetings and have sponsors and when they feel they need a drink they talk to these people instead of the local bartender down the street.  They make conscious decisions to be better about themselves and their lifestyle choices and if the people in their life don’t understand that then they move on.

It’s hard for any friend to see their best friend suffer from a drinking or drug problem but if your friend won’t enter an addiction rehabilitation center after you and other people in his or her life have organized and intervention and talked to them more than once about their problem there is really nothing else you can do. You just have to stay away until they get better. If you put your foot down and they don’t get help going back on your word will only make it harder to get them into a program in the long run.
