Eminem Thanks Fans For Supporting Him Through His Prescription Pill Addiction

Multi-platinum selling rapper, musician, and actor Marshall Mathers knows quite a bit about being afraid, as he battled a crippling addiction to prescription pain killers.

In a candid interview, approximately three years ago, the artist otherwise known as simply Eminem revealed to XXL Magazine that he entered a three year downward spiral of drug addiction after his best friend died.

Eminem divulged that he was consuming as much as twenty Ambien, Vicodin and Valium per day to deal with the grief of his best friend’s death.

The rapper, now 39, first entered rehab in 2005, subsequent to experiencing a near-fatal overdose on methadone.

And although he underwent detox as well, Eminem not completely admitted to himself that he was an addict, despite the fact that he later revealed that addiction runs in his family.

So, the story goes that Eminem experienced a knee injury, then relapsed on Vicodin.

Then, as mentioned above, his bestfriend Proof died and the rest is history.

Fast forward to 2012, Eminem is clean and sober for several years now, and during a concert in New York he thanks his fans for supporting him through what he refers to as “dark times”.

Let’s just say that the king of rap, and the recipient of the designation, best-selling album of 2010, is no longer afraid, of addiction that is, or anything as a matter of fact!!!

In fact, the Grammy-winning rapper performed “Not Afraid” for hundreds of admiring fans after informing them he could not have conquered addiction if it were not for them.

Eminem chronicled his journey from addiction to sobriety in his best-selling album, Recovery.
