27-Year-Old Drunk Man Cuts His Abdomen

A 27-year-old man, who cut his abdomen with a knife after he got drunk, has been released from a hospital in India. According to The Times of India, the incident occurred around 2 a.m., after the man came back to a relatives house drunk and passed out. At 2 a.m., another relative sleeping in the same room saw him cut his abdomen. He was taken to the hospital with his small and large intestines hanging out. He had multiple cuts on the abdomen, his bowel was prolapsing out of the abdomen, and he was bleeding severely. The man has been an alcoholic for 10 years and is currently undergoing substance abuse treatment. The surgeon who operated on the young man said, “Self-inficted injuries of this nature are not very common. Reasons for such abnormal behavior are acute alcohol intoxication, alcohol withdrawal syndrome, and depression.”
