Margaret Floyd is a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, writer, and real food advocate. She’s has been on the pursuit of the ideal nutritious and delicious way of eating for the better part of her adult life.

Margaret said, “I love food and everything about it: growing it, cooking it, eating it, healing with it, talking about it, understanding it, relating to it.  Food is such an integral part of our life.  We have to eat it multiple times a day to survive, and, as one of my teachers said, “we are, at our most basic level, walking food.”

Margaret received her Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) certification from the Nutritional Therapy Association and was certified as a Holistic Health Counselor by the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. She is also a Certified Healing Foods Specialist, is certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, and has a thriving private practice in Los Angeles, California at The Body Well Wellness Centre. Margaret’s work with clients is focused on shifting their diet to a naked diet through gradual changes to their lifestyle, cooking methods, shopping habits, and recipes. She specializes in digestive issues, blood sugar handling, immune issues, and preconception. She shares her passion for food and good health, and teaches clients how to eat so they can enjoy both.

Margaret is the author of Eat Naked: Unprocessed, Unpolluted, and Undressed Eating for a Healthier, Sexier You published by New Harbinger Publications in 2011. The follow-up cookbook, The Naked Foods Cookbook: Easy, Unprocessed, Gluten-free, Full-fat Recipes for Losing Weight and Feeling Great, coauthored by Margaret and Chef James Barry, comes out in May, 2012. She currently blogs at www.eatnakednow.com as well as several other health-related websites. You can connect with her at www.facebook.com/takeitalloff or www.twitter.com/margaretfloyd.

I think that we all gain the desire to become healthier as we get more and more clean time under our belts.  We become more self-aware, and we learn to live our lives with the new tools we learned in recovery.  As a food lover myself, I have to say I love Margaret’s take on food.  I love food, too.  When this book first landed in my hands, I checked out Margaret’s website, www.eatnakednow.com.  One the first page, I read a blog entry titled, “The business case for slowing down: An open letter to Type A’s everywhere.”  Even though I am not a Type A, overachiever, I really relate to Margaret and her philosophy.  She speaks of surrender, self care, learning to ask for and receive help, and learning how to say no more often.  Those were all things I learned in recovery, and to hear a health and wellness expert reflect on these exact things just reassures me that I am on the right path.  It is all connected, mind, body, and spirit.  As we grow in our recovery, strengthening our health, Margaret’s book and philosophies may help many of us in the recovery community.

Opiate Addiction Rages Through Orange County: This Is Joey's Tragic Story Part 1

Opiate addiction rages in Orange County,California, which otherwise seems like a nice, relatively affluent place. This is Joey's tragic story, told in several parts. Joey's story is similar to stories all over the country, and this problem of opiate addiction among young people is staggering. Many of them begin using prescription painkillers, often graduating to heroin. The effects of this epidemic are devastating.

  • Prescription Error Death

    Grandmother Died From Prescription Error

Although this story is not about addiction, it does represent a gross ignorance on the part of doctors. It is mistakes like this, as well as over-prescribing painkillers that have led to this deadly epidemic, and unfortunately the elderly often suffer the consequences.
